2020 TERM 3 REGISTRATION:

Registration for 2020 Term 3 classes is now available! Scroll down this page until you find the course that you wish to register for.

Please note that in addition to our live class sessions in Hamilton and Te Awamutu, distance-learning options (on-line live-streaming or recorded video sessions) are also now available for all classes (with the exception of Hebrew 201, and our Te Awamutu series).

  • REGISTRATION NOTES:
    • EarthDiverse now offers separate ‘live-streaming distance-learning’ options for most of our course offerings for those living outside the Waikato or those unable to attend our in-person classroom sessions. In-person classes and distance learning options (both live-streamed or recorded video sessions) are the same price. Contact us if you require any additional information.
    • Please read about each of our courses on their appropriate pages before you register!
    • You can only register for courses for the upcoming Term only (e.g. in early July for Term 3 classes that begin in late July).
    • You can register for subsequent Term courses once registration for that Term begins (e.g. in September for Term 4 classes that begin in October).
    • In order to register for the Term 3 course you are interested in, please scroll to the appropriate main section heading below (i.e. “Religious Diversity,” “Language” or “World Mythology” classes), chose the physical location (i.e. Hamilton, Te Awamutu) if needed, then click on the yellow “Pay Now” button within that section. Clicking on the wrong “Pay Now” button will result in registering for the wrong course.
    • Please make sure that you are registering for the correct options (e.g. a ‘Language’ or ‘Religious Diversity’ course), and correct locations (i.e. Hamilton, Te Awamutu).
    • EarthDiverse offers two payment tiers, one for ‘Waged’ persons (i.e. those currently earning either a part-time or full-time income), and ‘Unwaged’ (i.e. those currently unemployed, students of any age not currently earning an income, seniors or retired persons). Please select the tier appropriate for your situation.
    • All prices include a $4 online registration and processing fee per participant.
    • Registration & Payment can be made with funds from an existing PayPal account (if you have one), or by Credit Card or Debit Card.
  • METHODS OF PAYMENT:
    • to pay using your existing PayPal account (if you have one), enter your email address and PayPal password, then click on the blue “Log In” button
    • to pay with a Credit Card or Debit Card, select the grey “Pay with Debit or Credit Card” button.

    • read the associated blurb and make certain that you are registering for the correct course (by checking the course number, and class meeting day, time and location),
    • select the appropriate fee (‘Waged’ or ‘Unwaged’) from the Drop Down menu,
    • add the names and email addresses of the people you wish to register for (please note that these details are only used for registration and payment purposes),
    • click on the appropriate yellow “Pay Now” button, then…
    • click either on:
      • the blue ‘Log In’ button if paying with PayPal, OR

  • COMPLETING PAYMENT & REGISTRATION:

    • a receipt for your payment and registration will be automatically emailed to you.
    • Your instructor will send you a separate reminder email in the days before your course begins. This email will contain additional details about the class, its location, parking, etc.

RD102INTRODUCTION TO THE EASTERN RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS:

  • ‘Discovering Religious Diversity’ series:
  • 2020 TERM 3: “History & Development of Hinduism
    • This course comprises the first section of our introductory course on the “History and Development of the Eastern Religious Traditions” (RD102).
    • It follows the “History and Development of the Western Religious Traditions” course (RD101), a part of our Discovering Religious Diversity series.
    • Earlier Term courses in this on-going Te Awamutu series offered an introduction to Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
    • Our Terms 3 & 4 sessions now focus on the “History and Development of the Eastern Religious Traditions” in which Hinduism is offered in Term 3 and Buddhism in Term 4.
    • This course is currently being offered in-person in Te Awamutu only.
    • It does not include a distance learning option.
    • Meets on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month during school Terms.
    • Classes begin on Wednesday 5 August 2020.

  • ‘Contemporary Issues in Religion’ series:

    • This three-term class is offered as both an in-person class in Hamilton and on-line with both ‘live-streamed’ and ‘recorded-video’ Distance Learning options (for those living outside the Waikato or unable to attend regular class sessions in Hamilton).
    • Part 1 (offered during Term 2) covered an Introduction to the course, and provides the history, context and contemporary examples of Jewish & Christian Fundamentalism & Extremism.     • This course is for continuing students that began the Introductory Hebrew course in 2019 Term 3 and have completed four terms of Hebrew 101-104.
    • Our Intermediate Hebrew class focuses on continued reading and writing, grammar and vocabulary. An emphasis will be placed on spoken and conversational Hebrew.
    • This class is only offered as an ‘in-person’ class in Hamilton. There are no ‘distance-learning’ options.

HINDI: Term 3 currently offers three distinct levels of Hindi learning in Hamilton (Hindi 101 for beginning students, and Hindi 103 & Hindi 201 for continuing students). All of our Hindi classes include on-line distance-learning options for those living outside the Waikato or who may wish to attend on-line live-streamed sessions or watch the video-recorded sessions and progress at their own pace. HINDI 201: Intermediate Hindi (for continuing students)

  • This course is for continuing students who have already completed the four-term Introductory Hindi course (Hindi 101-104).
  • This course may also be suitable for Intermediate Hindi learners who already have a good knowledge of the Devanāgarī (देवनागरी) script and some introductory grammar.
  • This course focuses on continued grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing practice of the Devanāgarī (देवनागरी) script, and places more emphasis on building conversational skills during our second year of study.

URDU 103: Introductory Urdu (for continuing students)

  • This course is for Introductory Urdu students who have completed Urdu 101 & Urdu 102, or who may already have some elementary understanding of the Urdu script.
  • This class is suitable for both mature teenagers and adults.
  • Term 3 continues with the teaching of the Nastaʿlīq (نستعلیق) script, and includes basic conversation, grammar and vocabulary, focusing on the necessary reading and writing skills necessary to progress to Urdu 104.
